External sources of information and Inter-Library Loans
If you wish to visit another UK Higher Education library, please apply to join the national SCONUL Access scheme. To find out more and to join the scheme, visit the SCONUL Access page. Make sure that you complete the form accurately, entering your Library number and University email address. The British Library in London Kings Cross St. Pancras is the national reference library of the United Kingdom and provides a vast range of resources and services to support your research. In addition to books and journals it houses collections such as manuscripts, maps, newspapers, magazines, prints and drawings, music scores, patents, reports, conference papers and a sound archive.
Open Access Articles, Conference papers, Dissertations, Theses, and More
EThOS is the UK’s national thesis service which aims to maximise the visibility and availability of the UK’s doctoral research theses. It is provided by the British Library. There are approximately 450,000 records relating to theses awarded by over 120 institutions. Around 160,000 of these also provide access to the full-text thesis.
DOAJ - Directory of Open Access Journals
DOAJ is a list of open access journals and aims to be the starting point for all information searches for quality, peer-reviewed open access material. It contains around 9000 open access journals covering all areas of science, technology, medicine, social science and humanities.
OpenDOAR - Directory of Open Access Repositories
OpenDOAR is an authoritative directory of academic open access repositories around the world. OpenDOAR lets you search for repositories or search repository contents such as theses, dissertations, articles, book chapters, conference papers, and more.
Inter-Library Loans (ILL)
If we do not already have the item you are looking for, we will try to obtain it for you from another library through the Inter-Library Loans service (ILL).
We can obtain a range of resources including journal articles, single chapters of books, conference papers, reports, patents, and theses. In order to make a request, complete the online request form (you will need to log in to view this form) and send it to us.
