Inter-Library Loans and external sources of academic information

If we do not have the item you are looking for in our libraries, we will try to obtain it for you from another library through the Inter-Library Loans service (ILL). In order to make a request, complete the online request form.

You can also visit external institutions. Search their catalogues before your visit:

  • JISC Library Hub gives you details of materials held in many UK national, academic and specialist libraries
  • Search25 brings together the catalogues of the M25 Consortium of Academic Libraries across London and the Southeast of England

EThOS

EThOS is the UK’s national thesis service which aims to maximise the visibility and availability of the UK’s doctoral research theses. It is provided by the British Library. There are approximately 450,000 records relating to theses awarded by over 120 institutions. Around 160,000 of these also provide access to the full-text thesis.

DOAJ - Directory of Open Access Journals

DOAJ is a list of open access journals and aims to be the starting point for all information searches for quality, peer-reviewed open access material. It contains around 9000 open access journals covering all areas of science, technology, medicine, social science and humanities.

DOAB - Directory of Open Access Books

DOAB s a community-driven discovery service that indexes and provides access to scholarly, peer-reviewed open access books and helps users to find trusted open access book publishers. All DOAB services are free of charge and all data is freely available.

OpenDOAR - Directory of Open Access Repositories

OpenDOAR is an authoritative directory of academic open access repositories (archives of universities' own publications) around the world. OpenDOAR lets you search for university repositories or their repository contents for theses, dissertations, articles, book chapters, conference papers, and more.

Local libraries

We do not stock books on subjects not studied on Campus in our Library but there are many public libraries in London which you can register with easily to borrow books on any subject area. Once you register for free, you can access their online resources as well.
